Hello fellow Wilsonville friends,
I'd love to be there with you, but a grandson's high school graduation will be my "order of the day."
Life is good in Corvallis, where my wife was a journalist for OSU. Some may know of their "science for the public" publication Terra Magazine. She was the creative founding editor. I left Tek in 2002. After three years with Habitat for Humanity (2004-2007), followed by nearly ten more years with my own design consultancy, I still enjoy hiking, kayaking and more recently mountain bike rides. In August, my artist son, my mountain-bike racing grandson and I will tackle the 62-mile Corvallis to the Sea trail. Might even relax in the kayaks at Ona Beach. Blessed to be that healthy!
Another fun project at the vintageTEK museum has been addition of sway bracing to the Tek equipment and parts storage shelving. It's good to be aware of the probability of "the big one" referred to as the Cascadia event. Statistically we're past due. The bracing is simply a risk reduction project. Chris Curtin asked me about it in the fall of 2023, and I had a supply of steel tubing left over from a project, so it is being put to good use on this project.
